Have you tried seriously to tackle behaviors patterns of your own that sabotage your success in life? Or, I could ask, “how many times have you tried to change patterns of behavior that have frustrated, aggravated, and embarrassed you? What patterns to you have that have interrupted or diminished your capacity to achieve what you’d like, or to be who you know you can be?
Whether it’s procrastinating, being disorganized, impatient, or short tempered, engaging in addictive behavior to quiet your nerves, your anxiety, or worrying obsessively about anything that might disrupt or challenge your sense of safety, these are all patterns that you can change.
As adults we have the capacity to make better choices for ourselves, but our conscious intent isn’t sufficient to make this happen, which is why we so often feel that we have failed or are failing in our goals to change these behaviors. To truly effect deep and lasting change, the pattern must be reversed at its place of inception–which is, as it turns out, always in childhood.
I suggest using mindfulness to just sit with your awareness of the pattern. See it, feel it, remember the words and phrases about it, the times you have done it, some of the consequences, how you felt/feel about yourself for doing this. As this information arises in your awareness and in your body sensation, then use a method you know to release the effects. Of course, I suggest tapping and the holographic healing. But there may be others that you use and find to be as effective as those.
Even if you don’t have a technique that is as effective or don’t yet know how to do tapping and the holographic work, you could still sit with this awareness and breathe through it. You could also hold the frontal prominences (those slight bumps on your forehead just about the eyebrows) as you think about this. You could also place one hand over your forehead and one on the back of your head at the occipital lobe as you let yourself stay in the space of these awarenesses.
These will help you to relax physiologically. Being able to be in a relaxed state while thinking of issues that have been stressful is an important part of making change.
